Muskoka Brewery Review

Muskoka Brewery (formerly Muskoka Cottage Brewery) is a microbrewery founded in June 1996 as a part-time operation by Gary McMullen and Kirk Evans. By 2016, it had increased to 130 employees in a facility that is over 70,000 square feet in size. The company manufactures a line of beers, most notably Cream Ale, Mad Tom IPA, Craft Lager, Detour, Key Lime Pie, Summerwiess.

Cream Ale

Starting off our review with one of their original brews, first made in 1996, Cream Ale is unmistakable in the Muskoka region. It is a laid-back English pub-style ale that is smooth and easy-going. Perfect for a lunch pairing with Hot Dogs and Burgers.

Mad Tom IPA

This beer is brewed with the road less traveled in mind, not meant for the faint of heart this India pale ale is meant for those late nights with good friends by the campfire. With loads of hoppy flavour and an 8.4 alcohol percentage, this brew is the perfect nightcap.

Craft Lager

Uniquely flavourful, yet remarkably easy-drinking the Craft Lager is made from North American hops and malt. This delicately balanced thirst quencher is the refreshing summer beer you have been waiting for.

Detour

Muskoka Detour is a refreshingly adventurous beer for those who prefer to stray from the everyday. Dry-hopped and brewed as a session IPA, it delivers a rewarding tropical flavour.

Key Lime Pie

Sweet and tangy lime with a creamy background, just like the ice cream it’s based on. This beer is perfect for those afternoon cool downs after being out on the lake all day.

Summerweiss

Seasonally brewed and available in limited quantities, Muskoka Summer Weiss ("vice") is crafted with visions of summer in mind. Unfiltered and naturally hazy by design, the perfect balance of wheat, barley, and subtle hopping make this an intriguingly aromatic, flavourful, and sessionable summer wheat beer.
